Welcome to Ankeny, where our motto is “Bringing it all together.” This saying is especially true when it comes to being a great place to raise a family: our city has been voted one of the best suburbs in America, one of the safest places in Iowa, and one of the best places to live in the state. With plenty of history, arts, culture, and recreational activities, Ankeny can be a fun place to grow up. But some of the most fun Ankeny’s kids have is at Apple Tree Children’s Center, the area’s leading preschool and early learning center.
About Apple Tree Children’s Center
Apple Tree Children’s Center in Ankeny offers excellent early childhood education for infants up to pre-kindergarteners. Since birth through age eight is a critical time for cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, we employ and continually train highly qualified early childhood education professionals and an awarded-winning, research-directed curriculum to help accelerate our students’ learning and growth. We make sure our students build the skills necessary to succeed in kindergarten, throughout their scholastic journeys, and in life!
A testament to our quality programing at Apple Tree Children’s Center is that we are the only child care program and preschool in the Ankeny community that has achieved a 5-star rating in the Iowa Quality Rating System. Additionally, we are the only public, full day center that has earned accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Because of our NAEYC Accreditation, Apple Tree is qualified to accept NACCRRA funding.

What Makes Us Unique
Communication and family involvement are the keys to our school’s success. Teachers are available mornings and afternoons for face-to-face conversations, as well as by phone throughout the day. Families are encouraged to participate in activities held throughout the year. These provide opportunities for you to meet other families enrolled in our school and get to know our entire Apple Tree family! Parent Advisory Meetings are scheduled several times a year for parents to offer input in regards to programming and activities.
Our curriculum is another important contributor to our success. We utilize the Creative Curriculum and Creative Kaleidoscope of Learning Curriculum, a theme-based curriculum framework for all age groups. We also work closely with the Ankeny Community School District’s kindergarten program. Understanding the District’s kindergarten readiness expectations assists us in making sure your child is as prepared as possible for the transition to elementary school.
